It all begins with you…

I can honestly say that staying fit is one of the hardest things for me. I am Hispanic and as some of you may know our grandmas always serve you with extras and you must finish your food. It also does not help that every time we eat, she makes fresh flour tortillas (how can I say no lol!) When my grandma is not around my mom usually makes something quick or picks up fast food. With that being said, working out and eating healthy has been tough. Even though I am thin, always have been, but I definitely needed to tone a lot of areas.

I want to show you that it is possible, but you need to have discipline. That is the only way you will see the change. You need to start somewhere and this is your sign.

I started by getting a fitness trainer. I felt that I needed that extra push from someone that is a professional and someone that can show me healthy eating habits. When I would go to the gym by myself I feel that I would slack because I did not have that pressure of someone making sure I do it correct and I do not have the best skills.

I also started meal prepping… Okay I did not start to prepare them lol, but I started purchasing meal preps from the best place in town Get Fit El Paso. They have delicious, healthy food at very affordable prices. I make my own breakfast and eat their meal prep for lunch and dinner. As a snack I will have a protein shake or protein bar. It is very important to be eating your protein every meal.

Now let’s talk about my workout schedule. I go Monday through Friday and I try not to miss any workout, especially as we are getting closer to the pageant. I start my day at 6:00 A.M., change and make breakfast. I usually have egg whites with turkey bacon or turkey sausage. You can also make overnight oats and add strawberries, berries or any bananas (I also like to add a touch of honey). I then head to the gym and do fasted cardio for an hour. After I am done I go wash my hands and eat my breakfast. I then head to my summer class with EPCC. I am taking Speech 1321 during the summer and can’t wait to tell you all about it, but that will be for another day. After that i\I head home and have my meal prep from Get fit El Paso, my favorite meal so far is the BBQ Brisket. Highly recommend. I then go take a nap lol! After my nap, I wake up and work on some of my homework or my social media content. I also practice my interview questions, onstage questions and of course my onstage walk. I then get ready to head to the gym again and work out with my fitness trainer. We have an awesome but very intense workout. I am going to be as honest as possible. I have broken down at the gym when I feel that I can no longer push myself, but somehow I always manage to do so. I try to remember what my goals are and that I have to continue going. I have come a long way from where I started. Once I am done, I head home and have my dinner from Get fit El Paso. I can never go wrong with their Red Adobada Ground Turkey and rice. As a snack I eat some protein, but when I am on the run I usually do a quick stop at Tropical Smoothie and get their Triple Berry Oat smoothie. I then shower and get my beauty sleep to restart the next day.

A lot of people think that I am perfect, but I am not at all. I have people reaching out to me saying they wish they had my life or that they were me. But let me tell you or anyone we ALL have our up’s and down’s. I too feel insecure about myself. Sometimes I am not happy with the way my body looks or when I breakout and get that stubborn acne. I compare myself to celebrities on social media, but in reality they too have insecurities. They are not perfect and we are all humans. If you are feeling insecure just remember that there is only one you in this world, nobody is like you. I know many of you hide thousands of feelings behind that smile. Having fat, is NORMAL. Having hair on your body, is NORMAL. Having acne, is NORMAL. Being skinny, is NORMAL. Your body is perfect so embrace it. Stop listening to society and start loving yourself. If you decided to start on a fitness journey let it be for your health and not because people are telling you. Hangout with people that will bring you up and support you, not people that are negative. You are Enough!
